I’ve spent this week preparing a video about Titanic for DFI. The film is being re-released in (glorious?) 3D and will hit cinemas in Qatar tomorrow.

As it turns out, the original release in 1997 reinvigorated the cinema industry in Qatar and inspired a generation of Qatari filmmakers, including Hafiz Ali Ali.

Have to say, this is probably the cheesiest video I’ve ever produced, which is pretty apt given it’s Titanic, the cheesiest film of all time. Have I sold my cinematic-soul? Not sure. I do feel kinda dirty though. :/

I love playing with the Splitzer on my Lomo LC-A+. This is a series of photos that play with perspective.
The bottom half is always my feet and the top half is what is in front of me.
Blurring the line between the two makes for some very interesting images.
Playing around with what is under my feet and what is infront of me can also tell interesting stories.

Digging this track by The Dunnie Bobos and the video is pretty cool too. Watch out for my buddy James Armstrong on guitar.

I finally managed to get a bunch of 35mm film processed while in Austin. Here’s the first of a bunch of pictures from last year.
I found this entrance to one of many courtyards in Saida while walking down the street in search of the soap museum. Shot using a Minolta Hi-Matic 7SII with AgfaPhoto APX 100 B&W 35mm film.

One of the coolest things I saw at the #SXSW Trade Show was Cineskates by a company called Cinetx.

They build “feet” for the Gorillapod Focus and so far have produced wheels (Cineskates) and suction cups (Cinesquid). They’re a really cheap and simple solution for people who shoot digital video on anything from iPhone to DSLRs.

Cineskates can give you some awesome options for tracking shots and the Cinesquid is the perfect car mount! Can’t wait to add them to my kit collection.

A screen capture from the short documentary that I finished this week. Straight off camera, no tweaks. Hopefully will have a teaser trailer for next week!
